Legionella bacteria has been found in low levels at four hospitals - Logan, Ipswich, Gold Coast and QEII - as the new weekly testing regime in Queensland hospitals begins.
Panel to fight Legionella bacteria blamed in deadly outbreak at local VA health system
The Allegheny County Health Department, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health officials convened a regional panel this week to fight waterborne Legionella, the bacteria blamed in a deadly outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System in 2011 and 2012.
Qld hospital to reopen after outbreak
The Queensland hospital where a deadly legionella outbreak occurred will reopen to new patients after tests cleared one wing of the bacterium.
As per reports, the Brisbane's Wesley Hospital will remain shut for one more week to complete its disinfection process so that it can be freed of the Legionella bacteria.
