OCEAN CITY, Md. – A water hydrant near an Econo Lodge hotel in Ocean City is still testing positive for levels of the bacteria known as Legionella.
Low levels of the bacteria were first reported in the hotel's water supply weeks ago when two vacationers contracted Legionnaire's disease from the contaminated water.
Ocean City Communications Manager Jessica Waters said the town is working closely with the Worcester County Health Department to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Waters also said the public should not worry about its water supply.
“At this point no restrictions have been put into place on the water and citizens should not be concerned about drinking the water,” said Waters.
The affected water hydrant on 145th Street in Worcester County will continue to be tested by the town and health department.
